Hair growth is a very serious and important subject that has several questions which should be answered.  Hair growth can mean one of two things.  A person can be interested in growing hair because he or she is experiencing hair loss (usually on the head). Or, the person can be interested in finding out how to get rid of hair growing in places it shouldn't.  Both of these can be very embarrassing situations for the people who suffer from them.

If you are interested in hair loss problems then you are probably thinking about your head.  Most men at some point in their lives will experience male pattern baldness to some extent.  The only question is when and how much.   Some men will lose the majority on their head by the time they reach their late twenties.  That is what happened to my brother.  He started losing hair at a young age and by the time he was thirty he had absolutely no hair left above the ring at the bottom of his scalp.

Of course not all men will experience total hair loss.  My maternal grandfather lived to be 96 and he still had a fair amount of hair on top.  It was thin but it was still their.  If may have had something to do with the fact that he kept three seperate wives happy till they passed away but I am not sure.

Hair growth or actually hair loss in men is usually caused by a condition known as male pattern baldness.  DHT a testosterone hormone has the tendency to bond with some men's hair follicles.  This bonding causes the blood supply to be interrupted to the roots of the hair and thus the hair follicle dies and the shaft falls out.  Certain drugs can alleviate this problem as a side effect of their intended purpose.  For example, Minoxidil was originally developed to treat cardiovascular problems but it was found to help regrow hair.  Finasteride was originally used to treat enlarged male prostrate but it also proved to be somewhat effective at hair regrowth.

Many people claim that home hair growth rememdies have a pronounced affect on hair regrowth but not a lot of study has been done.  There must be something to them though because every major civilization has had hair restoration procedures.  This list included the Egyptians from several thousand years ago.

Women can also experience pattern baldness but they usually are more apt to see hair thinning over their entire head.  This causes a problem when a woman does need to deal with female pattern baldness because the primary hair transplantation method requires a good donor area on the patient's head in order to have healthy, growing follicles to transplant.  The procedure for women is a little more complex because the donor hair must come from several portions of the scalp.

The fact is there are several options if you want to regrow your hair.  There are hair remedies, hair transplants, hair growth drugs, and hair growth therapies.  The best thing is to try several different procedures and find out what is right for you.  Millions and millions of women and men are enjoying renewed hair.  Why don't you join them?

If you have too much hair or hair in the wrong places then there are also many options for you.  In particular the procedures for female hair removal from places it is not desired has become a complete science.  Contact a dermatologist or hair removal clinic and find out what options are available.

A note of warning.  There is a condition known as Hirustism which means increased and excessive hair growth in places it normally doesn't belong.  This is a symptom of some other problem so if you are experiencing excessive hair check with your doctor about possible procedures.

Interesting hub on hair re-growth. I'm doing fine so far, and my father had a good head of hair well into his 60's. But it's nice to know that there are remedies should I start to lose a lot of hair.

I always figured once I started losing hair I would just transfer to the 'shaved head' look
